Bort (5.10a) with the rope hanging, Joshua Tree NP

This route lies about 20 yards left of "Road to Utopia". There is a bush growing out of the rock at the base. Climb face past four bolts to a ledge with an oddly placed bolt. Move left then climb golden rock past another bolt to the anchor.

Six bolts, two bolt anchor.

This is a nice addition to the area with good protection, varied movement and a casual approach.

Climb up featured rock past holes and jugs to a stance at the 4th bolt where a balancy highstep gains better holds and then a ledge. Clip the next bolt (5th) with a runner, shuffle left on a ledge and then up rust-colored intrusions to a tricky hand/foot match sequence and the top. Three stars out of five.

Nice line, fun moves with a few crux moves. Top with the orange colored chert was done a variety of ways from our group. Fun.

yes, indeed, this is a really nice climb. Much more interesting to climb than it looks (i.e., it's not friction slab at the top!)

Nice bolt placement, too.
