Description Suggest change

Probably not for everyone, but if you're looking to escape the Ferguson 'crowds,' this might be your ticket. While the climbing is straightforward, the approach is probably the crux with loose rock, loose dirt, and the obligatory scrub oak wrestling match. If this was a little closer to the canyon bottom it might see more action and get more stars. It would definitely be two stars if you squinted hard enough or were on your fourth drink. "Might clean up with additional ascents."

Climb occasionally good jams through occasionally dirty rock to an occasionally nice traverse that sports a rusting pin that might occasionally deliver confidence. Thankfully it can be backed up with modern small gear. Or escape up and right, just before the traverse for an easier variation. Either way, belay in the bushes or off a dirt bollard (I jest). Probably best to walk off this one (head west to a trail above Concrete Jungle).

One star? Yes. I'd feel guilty giving a Hank Armantrout route anything less. Fun climbing if you're teleported to the zone.

I'll be curious if this one ever gets a tick - or has seen other ascents?

Location Suggest change

Just east (upcanyon) from Fuego and the other Tower Of Babel routes. It is found at the head of the gully at the east end of the Cathedral. The splitter crack can't be missed.

Protection Suggest change

Standard rack with some extra webbing or slings for the 'anchor' bushes. Chainsaw for the approach scrub oak.
