Description
Ice Cream Float ascends the classic 12a opening dihedral of Ice Cream Direct and then breaks right via a mantle to a good ledge. Get a good rest before moving right to clip the first bolt on the headwall. Move up the headwall (staying left of bolt) which is peppered with trade-mark hawksbill crimps. Once you reach the good horizontal move right to clip bolt #2. One can ascend the final headwall left or right of the bolt line to gain the obvious horizontal (with gear) below the roof. One final roof guards the chains and a stellar view of Linville Gorge.
