Description Suggest change

Poseidon’s hard Red Wall route.

Climbs through the dark red-brown panel of the upper red wall, to the arching dihedral system left of Treebeard.

This route tests an array of Reef skills through varied terrain.

Belay at Charybdis anchor, & start off the ledge through an immediately engaging & sequential first few bolts. The first third of the route is hard to relax through 5.12 low angle face climbing to a no-hands rest — a sort of entry fee.

From here, the subtle corner system looms above, curving left, and guarded by hidden holds through thin cracks to a brief stint of almost steep terrain. Continue trending left through committing & technical three-dimensional sequences very unique for Mount Lemmon to get to restful stances at each bolt. At ~100 feet, a good jug & an airy stem with the wall dropping away below your feet is your last rest before the stacked boulder problems that define the route.

A hard clip brings you to the first main crux involving slopers, overhead gastons, & difficult footwork that get you to the glassy dihedral. The last crux consists of powerful pulls on smooth holds, holding specific body positions on marginal smears with a wild ride awaiting if you blow the final moves. Grit your teeth and starve the ego.

From here, the final two bolts are shared with Deep End’s second pitch just after its crux, through a casual final corner to a separate bolted anchor straight above you, at the apex of the Red Wall (Deep End continues left towards the seam & pin)

Around a corner seldom turned, high off the ground, you'll find the high intensity & solitude that accompanies hard Reef routes.
