Description
Smoking Crack follows the steep crack corner to the left of Straight In Shorty. This gets 5.11a in the book but I found it to be more like a 10, kept the original grade so not to be a sandbagger. Start by climbing up to the base of a flake, then mantle left to a higher ledge. A few stems allow you to set a good piece before firing the overhanging crack. Good finger locks quickly become hands - wide hands. Overcome the steep bulge as the feet get then, then pull into a lower angle crack. Climb a series of moderate corners, then top out in the trees above. As of 2023 there is new tat on a spruce tree to lower from.
