Description
The west face of Higher Education Ridge has about 30 established routes, many of which are vertical to overhanging, as well as a good trail that switchbacks up the Gully of Higher Education past the highest and left-most route reported here (so far). The quality of the quartzite seems to be more variable here than other popular BCC crags, so temper your expectations and be prepared for the occasional flexing hold, or worse.
Getting There
From the large parking area (with the drive-around pine), head west on a trail paralleling the road through a notch at the toe of the ridge. To get to Friends in Low Places, turn up the gully just after the notch and stay near the rock. To get to the rest of the reported routes, do not turn up the gully at the first opportunity but continue west (down canyon) on an ascending trail up a scree field that is the first leg of the switchbacks to the majority of the west face’s routes.
