Inconsiderate or illegal parking here could lead to permanent closure.
Description
The Powerlinez area is in the southwest part of Harriman State Park. It was officially opened for rock climbing in 2013, thanks to the efforts of the Torne Valley Climbers Coalition (TVCC). There are many more problems than are shown so far here on this website (hopefully you'll add some). The digital guidebook, Powerlinez Bouldering, available in the Gunks+ app documents 262 problems, and includes GPS navigation and maps.
Most of the rock is granitic gneiss. High-friction and gritty to the point of abrasive. Many of the holds can be sharp, so be sure to tape up for any crack climbs. The top outs are notoriously heart-pounding and heady. Often on slopers that just don't feel confident, topping out is a head game at Powerlinez.
required Waiver form: Before arriving at Powerlinez to climb, you need to sign the online waiver. You no longer need to visit a climbing gym to complete the waiver. obtain and submit a completed + signed Waiver of Liability form, by visiting an organization which is not located by the parking or trail access for Powerlinez. As of 2017, these organizations include Gravity Vault indoor climbing (at Upper Saddle River NJ, Chatham NJ, and several other locations), The Cliffs indoor climbing (at Long Island City NY and Valhalla NY), and Rock & Snow climbing shop in New Paltz NY.
No fee to be paid for climbing at Powerlinez (as of 2021).
Please access the boulders and roped-climbing sectors by using the TVCC-approved trails (marked usually with white diamonds or sometimes yellow paint), or using already-well-trodden paths, rather than creating some new way.

more info: Other places to look for more problems as of 2017 are the Rakkup phone app (also a "guidebook" version which can be printed), the print guidebook by Jon Crefeld, and the Powerlinez Beta Shed group on Facebook. Beta Shed is a likely place to report or check for new problems.
