Description

The Main Wall is the largest formation at Promontory and is easily identified as the large "wave" of rock facing the ocean.

All of the routes from Humboldt Current > Great White are steep, featured, and fun.  However, they also have a tendency to be sandy (or very sandy), and although the big holds are solid, some of the smaller holds are fragile.  If you break anything, just consider it doing your part to clean up the routes!

Getting There

Walk north from the parking area and look for the largest overhanging crag.

Crimper E6

Crimper E6   cheltenham, UK, SW is the BEST
Having climbed all over the world, this ranks as one the most crumbly walls ive seen bolted (probably worse than Sydney sea cliffs). Holds are covered in sand and edges will snap off on you on every burn. But good fun none the less. I noticed some of the new glueins already eroding around the edges on the anchors, so a little scary cleaning! Jul 6, 2015
The crag has been neglected for 20 years, so its makes sense that it is scruffy, but there is plenty of good rock. If you could let me know which routes had glue ins that you thought were eroding that would be great, since I put in a lot of those in myself and want to keep the climbing safe. I also don't see how they could be eroding so much in only 6 months. Jul 6, 2015
