Description
On the left side of the trunk there is an obvious tree ledge splitting the cliff, climb\scramble up to a ledge with a tree growing out of it, pull up over this and climb straight up over a incipient vertical crack system, past a fixed pin with good gear to new (2019) 3/8-inch SS bolt and an older huge ring bolt with a quick link.....
[ Admninistrator's NOTE: The only fixed pin on the Northwest side of the Elephant is in the crack system on the left-ish side of the face. From the description given by the submitter this route sounds like the Ear in the Notches guidebook and I have named it such. There is now a new SS bolt at the top of the NW face. The pin was placed by your Admin. back in either the late 60’s or early 70’s on an AMC trip to Cannon that was “rained off” of the “big” cliff.]
