Description
This is a classic Uncompaghre Gorge/Ouray Ice Park line located upstream from the upper bridge just right of a prominent arete with Bloody Sunday. An early ice video, On Ice, shows Duncan Ferguson smoothly strolling up this near-vertical verglas. With the development of the Ice Park, this area gets significantly fatter than in the old days. However, sometimes the fatter ice, is not necessarily easily protected.
Be careful with your ropes as there is open water below which may suck your ropes under a snow bridge.
Paranoia to the R may have better ice if you find yourself backing off due to sketchy ice conditions.
If you TR this from below, the line requires more than a single 60m rope.
Finally, this is a photogenic line.
Protection
Ice screws in fat conditions, stubbies/Spectres/rock gear in thin conditions. There may be fixed pro under the ice.
Per Bharath T: there is a 2 bolt, awkward positioned anchor.
