Description Suggest change

The Tortuga Boulder is a massive boulder sitting in the middle of the North Saint Vrain Creek. Most sides of the boulder drop into the creek, but the North face has a natural island landing, and a rock landing was built under the East face for the boulder's namesake problem, Tortuga.

Getting There Suggest change

Park at the Button Rock Trailhead, and hike up Longmont Dam Rd. for about 5 minutes, passing the turnoff for Lion's Den on your left, until you see the Tortuga Boulder in the river on your right. It's the largest boulder in the river, and it can be accessed with a little rock hopping.
