HUMAN WASTE: Human waste is a major issue plaguing the area. The Southern Nevada Climbers Coalition (SNCC) works to provide "wag bags" free of charge in several locations: Black Velvet Canyon, The Hamlet, Kraft Mountain Area, The Gallery, and The Black Corridor. These bags are designed so that you can pack your waste out. Consider bringing one to be part of your daily kit no matter where you go. Once used, please dispose of them properly. Do not throw them in the toilets at the parking areas.
See https://www.southernnevadaclimbers.org/wag-bags for more information on the program.
Description
Small, popular cliff with some of the best 5.11 to 5.12- sport climbs in the area. The climbs tend to be sustained and pumpy. There is a comfortable slab to hang out at the base the climbs, but the area does feel a bit crowded if more than two or three parties are present.
The wall faces northeast and gets shade most of the day in the winter and from late morning on in the spring. Any wind will usually catch this wall as well.
Getting There
Take the Calico Tanks trail leaving the parking lot from the north. Just after crossing the main wash, take a left onto a climber's trail that heads up and left to the small ridge line. Continue along this ridge trail until it hits some slabs, then cross the slabs, staying a bit high until nearly at the cliff before dropping down and then scrambling back up the slab to the base of the wall.
0.4 miles and 100 feet of elevation gain, 10 minutes.
