Description
This area is probably Gold Bar's most popular and for good reason. Most of the boulders are on the edge of the forest, which features a string of classics like Midnight Lichen (V4), Stinkin' Slopers (V5), and Metroid Prime (V6). The first boulders you come to in the East Forest are the popular Warm-up Boulders. This is a common place to warm up and wait for the rest of your party to arrive. Deeper in the Forest you will find Gold Bar's most classic high ball, Bricklayer (V2).
Note that the area to the east of the East Forest has recently been clearcut (2017). This is NOT the clearcut that is referred to elsewhere on Mountain Project or in the guidebook.
Getting There
Take the trail for the Five Star Boulder, crossing the stream and then switching back under the powerlines tower. The trail will then veer northeast into the forest. Stay right at the first fork in the trail (left will take you to the Five Star Boulder) and continue east until the trail joins the logging road. Follow the logging road up hill to the west until you run into another switchback.
Continue following the logging road now to the east until you see the Fraggle Rock trail heading up the bank on the left. Take the trail directly up hill until it ends at a T. Take the right path a few yards until you find yourself in small clearing on the edge of the clearcut. Heading several more yards north into the woods leaves you at the East Forest warm up boulders.
