Description
Duluth, Minnesota, is home to around 90,000 people, a small number of whom are climbers. With dozens of local climbing areas, boulders, urban ice, a public gym, bouldering co-op, three university gyms, and a number of fine pubs, Duluth is a great spot for northern living! To quote Peter Dodge from the intro to his bouldering guidebook; "Bouldering in Duluth, Minnesota is the epitome of 'Urban Climbing.' In no other mid-western city can you find amazing boulders right off the side of the road- within city limits. Do you prefer having your approaches longer than a two second walk? If so, Duluth is also home to much more "rustic" bouldering crags, whose approaches wind through dense forests or along rushing streams."
Within easy driving distance are the climbing areas of Palisade Head, Shovel Point, Sawmill Creek Dome, Carlton Peak, Sandstone, Taylor's Falls, Redwing, Thunderbay, Nipigon and more!
For gear needs, Vertical Endeavors in Canal Park is your best option.
