Getting weather forecast...

A sweet climbing area with lots of bouldering and a handfull of roped climbs. All roped climbs here have been established on lead, though some were cleaned prior to climbing. Climbs are up to 50 feet on Little Foxx and 40 feet on Foxx Rocks.
If you head out and bag an FA or are not sure, contact Nodin at W-Trek Outfitters, Adam Van Stratten (Biathlon) or Chris Duelen on here so that we can keep track. Actual trails are being established so please follow them (unless scouting new rocks).

Update: There is a new mountain bike trail circling around the bottom of Foxx Rocks. Use this trail for hiking as well but listen for bikers and get out of the way if they are coming...
Also, a few sport routes are coming to the Foxx Rocks within the next few months...

Getting There

Take 40th Ave west to Skyline and continue up Haines Road for a few hundred yards. Park in the Superior Hiking Trail pull off. Foxx Rocks is on the right hand side (north) and cannot be seen from the road except during winter. Little Foxx is on the left (south side) and can be seen easily (it looks bigger than it is...)

Alternately, park at the upper intersection of Haines Road and Skyline and hop the metal guard rail on the Little Foxx side to access the trails to South Little Fox.

There is a boulder about 15-20 feet high with two finger cracks going up the middle. I sent the left one on top rope and I bouldered the under cling heading out right. The finger crack on the right still has not been done. There is also a travers that we did about 50 yards down hill from there. If any one wants me to show what routes I am talking about I would be happy to.

These problems are on the Little Foxx side. Sep 12, 2007

A 40 min. video of the bouldering in North and South Little Foxx and other skyline areas is available for free at W-Trek. Much thanks to Rich for all the work he did on it! Nov 7, 2008
I was at little foxx a bit this weekend. We had a great time even with the short amount of daylight we had! A quick note, on the more detailed hand drawn topo, the trail that's shown closer to skyline road is a deer trail that is minimal at best, and approaching from the other side is significantly easier if you plan to climb on the cliff with skittle phlem, especially. The anchors on skittle phlem are a little offset for TR, but extended enough they'll still work out well. Also, nickaretz mentioned that finger crack above, anyone know if it's been sent yet? I played around on it a bit and it's definitely pretty stout. Jul 17, 2011

Some climbs on the north and south side of Little Fox Canyon are not boulder problems. Both sides have a handful of worthy endeavors that could use more traffic to clean up. It's a confusing trying to find trad and sport climbs when they're under the Duluth Bouldering section. Jul 2, 2016
