Description

The Mineral del Chico climbing area is located within Mexico's first national park (established in 1898). The area is rugged and forested and receives more rainfall than other nearby areas like El Arenal. The cliffs are quite impressive, but it appears that some of the rock isn't of great quality. The area is briefly described in The Mexican Rock Climbing Guide Center-South (March 2013) pages 268-273.

The small town of Mineral del Chico has numerous places to stay and eat. There are a few small markets where you can buy limited supplies.

Getting There

From the large city of Pachuca in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico, drive up one of two windy, paved roads to reach the cute little town of Mineral del Chico. Numerous cliffs are clearly visible from town and along the drive into town.
