West Bluff Bouldering

Bouldering areas on the West Bluff, the hill situated above the western shore of Devil's Lake.  The vast majority of the bouldering is on the boulders scattered over the east-facing slope, above Devils Lake.  This big area is covered by numerous boulder fields, some open and sunny, others shaded with trees and sometimes dense undergrowth.

The area is bounded below by Devils Lake and the Tumbled Rocks trail along the shoreline.  It is bounded above by the West Bluff trail.  There are a few well-defined user trails in between, but these can be very steep and often end in boulder fields, not connecting through.

• South - the south end begins at the southwest boat ramp parking area, and extends north to the vicinity of Anchorpoint and the Great Tower.
• Central - the central section begins north of Anchorpoint and extends north to the foot of the Slant Boulder Field, including everything beneath the West Rampart.
• North - the north end begins at the first parking area inside the North Entrance, near the Nature Center, and extends south to the foot of the Slant Boulder Field
• Fire Road - on the west slope of the West Bluff.  These boulders lie both north and south of the service road which connects South Shore Road and the West Bluff Trail.
