Description
An alpine area in central Oregon with five peaks over 9,000'. South Sister,
Middle Sister, North Sister, Broken Top, and Bachelor Butte.
There are glaciers on the mountains, and many alpine lakes and
streams in the wilderness area, along with meadows and forests.
South Sister is the third tallest peak in Oregon at 10,358'.
North Sister is the fourth tallest peak in Oregon at 10,085'.
Middle Sister is the fifth tallest peak in Oregon at 10,047'.
Established Jan. 1, 1964. The area contains 286,708 acres.
The rock is volcanic junk.
Three Sisters Marathon:
The goal is to summit North Sister, Middle Sister, and South Sister in a day. It was first done on Aug., 8, 1931 by Cliff Stalsburg, Ed Johnson, and Don Woods.
