Description
The fifth tallest peak in Oregon. There are at least five routes on Middle Sister.
Northwest Forest pass required to park at trailheads.
Special use permit required if climbing from the west side, and using the Obsidian Trail.
The rock is volcanic rubble.
Getting There
From Interstate 5 in Salem, drive route 22 east, toward the town of Sisters and Bend.
For West side routes, use the Mckenzie Pass Highway(Closed in winter). From West Cascades scenic byway (126), turn onto Mckenzie Pass Hwy, after 15 miles turn right for the signed Obsidian trailhead.
From Interstate 5 in Eugene, drive route 126 east toward Bend.
Northwest Forest Pass required to park.
Special use permit required if passing through Obsidian area.
