Nic locking off for the crux move. Cool problem!
Add Photo Printer View
Description Start on the obvious jug and start to wonder why this wasn't as easy as you thought it was going to be. A deceivingly difficult problem to say the least.
Location This is the first boulder you come across when you come up the talus field from the Tumbled Rocks trail.
Protection Landing is good

I think I was the FA on this. But like everything you get on at DL chances are it has been done by 5 people before you. I would be interested to know if Eric or any other guys did this before me.

With a little bit different beta. Finally done!

Nice work Sweaty, great beta man!
By sweatpants From: Broomfield, CO Nov 22, 2009 rating: V9
thanks Remo! It was my ditch effort as it usually is when you send I suppose. "Ok, I swear this is my last try and then we can move on." Neadless to say I was very excited (hence the swearing in the video I guess. lol)

Sweaty= making things harder.
By sweatpants From: Broomfield, CO Nov 22, 2009 rating: V9
If you think I did it "the harder way" does that mean I can take 10 points for it? I mean I've never sent a 10 yet and I wouldn't mind calling this my first one :-) I tried forever to do it ur way but I just couldn't stay on that sloper for the life of me. No matter how daintily I went to the damn thing so I abandoned that beta and made a power problem out of the thing lol.

Nice work Sweaty.. I do not think I could do it that way.
By sweatpants From: Broomfield, CO Nov 23, 2009 rating: V9
Well thanks bud! You wear modesty well. When you coming thru next and did you send that proj you've been working on yet?

Damn how much chalk do you need on the second hold? I could chalk up on that tick mark!
By Chris treggE Administrator From: Madison, WI Nov 26, 2009
Funny Paul, John and I were talking about this a couple days ago. I first went up to check out Alpine Club in March. There was zero chalk on it. I walked by it again about 1-2 weeks ago and it was positively GLOWING, you could see each chalked hold perfectly from the path 100 yards below. Save your money, you don't need any more chalk for this one LOL.

I wish I could take credit for that tick but it wad already there when we got there. I am not shy though when it comes to ticking so it might as well been from me.

I highly recommend Sweaty's beta. I tried a good 10 times to do it the other way and gave the bump a try. 5 tries later, stuck it. Didn't quite finish it off and with bleak forecasts coming up, I think I'll have to wait 'til the fall
By sweatpants From: Broomfield, CO May 16, 2010 rating: V9
Paul. Well done on sticking the move! We are definitely in the minority on thinking that way is easier. I have to ask the obvious question though, at the risk of bringing up hurtful memories. How the fuck did you fall after sticking that move sir??? Where did you fall, what happend?
By Paul Dieterle From: Pasadena, CA May 17, 2010
I blew my shoulder out earlier in the day so I could hardly hold on and as soon as that thought entered my mind, the fact that I didn't chalk up and instead just went for it also came into play and I greased right off the thing. It's not a painful memory, it's really encouraging.

| Well, there were horrid, humid, hot conditions today (the 3 H's). the funniest go of the day...

Paulie, we love your enthusiasm but, A. Don't post vids of you not sending, that makes you look lame. B. If you must post a video rotate it in Picasa. C. Have someone hold the camera for gods sake so we can actually see the climb!

Ah, I just heard it with the sound (LOL!) but I believe my points for vid posting are good ones :)

I heard a girl climbed this boulder problem on Sunday, Kelly Mcbride. Like many problems all over the nation I now believe because of a FFA it should be down-rated.. Just kidding, Good work Kelly.
