Comments: Until they open the gate, the only way in involves a very long walk.

Comments: Eva, the road is not open yet. The Forest Service is waiting for "the area to dry out to a point where resource damage is minimized". The phone number for the ranger district is 303-275-5610. Call them often and bug them to open the gate.

Comments: Nope. The raptor closure is on the far east side of the mountain and does not include anything in the guidebook.

| The Devil's Head guidebook, "Rampart Range Rocks", is available at most Front Range mountain shops.

Comments: Heppherd- The closure encompases a group of lesser known crags on the far east side of the mountain. None of the areas described in Tod's guidebook, Rampart Range Rocks, are affected.

Comments: That was a frightening amount of rock that came off, Wendy. One block easily weighed more than 100 lbs. I'm glad nobody was hurt. I don't know that it will be harder now, but the rockfall did eliminate a rest stance.

Comments: I cleaned some of the loose crap in the crack to the left last night. One block was a hundred pounder that I was able to wiggle out with one hand. Yikes!

Comments: Just gave the Luggable Loo it's maiden voyage to the Tower. I wish I had bought one of these years ago. It's more comfortable than squatting and more convenient than digging a hole. The lid snaps down to hold a wag bag firmly in place and the bag is easy to change. I paid $16 for the bucket and lid. Bags are a bit expensive ($2.95), but they are biodegradable. I plan on putting a sicker on "Lou" (I've named him) from everywhere he goes, but I could not find any stickers in Datil or Magdalena. If... more >>

Comments: I've been trying to "climb this crag out". But every time I turn around, Kirk adds another route. I'll be up there tomorrow to check out Bear's Choice. Canal Zone has shaped up to be a great crag for moderates.

Comments: I had heard the route got it's name because there was a bat in an undercling during the first ascent.
