Hell in a Bucket offers super fun movement, buckets, and nice position on a slightly overhanging face. The crux is bouldery and comes early on. The climbing remains interesting all the way to the anchors. Finish with a beautiful, expansive view of Boulder Valley below.

Hell in a Bucket is located on the southeast corner of the Red Devil (on the far right side of the south face). It is downhill from Hell Freezes Over and Paradise Lost.

Shade abounds at the base, so this route could potentially be climbed year round. Also, it is only about 2 minutes uphill from Der Zerkle.

9 bolts and a 2 bolt anchor.

Definitely worthwhile pitch. Thanks!

Bottom is shady, top sunny, so best for moderate days, not too hot, not too cold.

If you are short (less than 5' 3"?), you may prefer to stick clip the first bolt, as there's a reachy move getting to it. My 5'5" wife had to stretch.... Feb 18, 2017

Nice climb. Juggy as it gets. The low crux might be harder for shorter people. After the first bolt, the grade kicks back quite a bit. After bolt #3, nothing harder than 5.9. Oct 7, 2017

First 20' is steep, clean, and fun. It is slab to vert after that and very dirty and lichen-covered but will clean up over time. Definitely a fun route, very close to Der Zerkle but hidden enough to avoid the Zerkle-circus. Thanks to Steve and Lisa for putting this up! Apr 28, 2018
