HUMAN WASTE Human waste is one of the major issues plaguing Red Rocks. The Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council and the AAC provides free "wag bags" in several locations (Black Velvet, First Pullout, Kraft Mtn/Bouldering, The Gallery, and The Black Corridor). These bags are designed so that you can pack your waste out - consider bringing one to be part of your kit (just like your rope and shoes and lunch) no matter where you go. Once used, please dispose of them properly (do not throw them in the toilets at the parking area).
Description
Climbs 3 pitches up the left-end of the right-side of the GRB area. Start at a left-facing corner about 20’ right of the arete route, Animal Boy. The first pitch is a great single pitch on its own.
All anchors are fitted with pigtail lower-offs if needed, but if you go to the top please walk off. This is not a good climb to rappel as the varnish jugginess will snag your rope! It’s quick and easy as it follows the GRB walk-off. It's 10 min back to the base of the wall.
Bring 11 quickdraws plus your anchor. A 60m rope will suffice.
P1: 5.10d, 8b, 70': Scramble up into the left-facing corner and climb it’s right-side trending up and right. As the corner closes out and the wall steepens, continue straight up for a couple bolts. Continue following bolts back left (crux) through the blank, improbable-looking wall to anchors at a semi-hanging belay. A great pitch! Note: About halfway up, the route converges a bit with the route to the right, use caution if other climbers are present.
P2: 5.8, 9b, 70': Climb straight up from the anchors past a horizontal band of black varnish and a slight bulge. Above the bulge trend leftward and up the slab to anchors at a small ledge.
P3: 5.10a, 11b, 110': Climb up the slab to the steep headwall forming the upper cap of rock to the wall. Follow bolts up the steepness for 20’ (crux) and continue up the easy slab above as the angle eases to a great ledge at the top. Use the left anchors.
