And here it is, the Via Dolorosa for five eleven climbers on a holy pilgrimage to sacred sites in the Black Hills climbing pantheon! AN ABSOLUTE MUST DO and probably one of the very best routes for the grade in Spearfish Canyon. Start on a tricky, black slab with small, granite-like holds and hard to find feet. Gain a somewhat resty ledge below the blonde bulge. Reach for the sky and grab something good, pull it down to your waist before re-reaching and high stepping up a thousand tongues of super great holds of all shapes and sizes. Enjoy stemming and navigating overhung features while catching great rests after committing moves to big, holy bucket holds. Trust us, when the pump and fear of being far above your last bolt is about to destroy you, the big, "Thank you Jesus!", holds are never too far away. Follow the enjoyable climbing all the way to the last bolt and dig in for a heartbreaking top crux that involves a powerful, dynamic move on nearly nonexistent feet to a big, hidden hold to the right of the anchors. Praise the Lord and pass the potatoes! Be sure to have one good last supper before being crux-eee-fied on this calorie burning test of strength and endurance!

If you start on the very right hand side of the crag, this would be the fifth bolt line from the left. Look for the tall, darker buttress of rock just to the left of the first blonde wall you encounter when you first reach the crag. Holy Buckets is about ten feet taller than everything else to its left on this second buttress that has noticeably black, slabby route at its bottom.
