BLM Managed Lands at Castle Rocks PERMANENTLY CLOSED TO CLIMBING!! Castle Rocks State Park lands are OPEN TO CLIMBING Details

Description

Fun perfect hand crack on a slab. Crack peters out, route continues up the slab past 2 bolts to a chain anchor.

Location

Fallow trail around the lower east side of Comp Wall past "Mantle Dynamics". Fallow the trail until you see the obvious splitter crack.

Protection

.75-#2 Camalot and 2 draws for the bolts. Chain anchor.

No tape needed. I will say that I wish the upper slab either stopped at the 3rd bolt, where there's a good stance, or kept going. It stops almost precisely at the 100' mark, but not really in a logical location. Sep 17, 2015

I'm pretty sure I soloed this (up and down). Did not do the slab if that's the 7. I have no guidebook but I don't see any other low angle hand crack listed. Jun 2, 2015

3 bolts up top, not 2 Nov 10, 2014
great route.. new leaders would probably want a couple of #2 camelots - else walk one up.. can get in a #1 and a #3 as well.. there are 3 bolts on the upper slab May 27, 2014

Awesome splitter, if only it was twice as long! Good intro to crack climbing with bomber pro. May want to consider taping up, there were definitely a few sharp crystals in there. The crack absolutely eats up #2 C4s, and there are a few spots a #3 will fit. There are 2 bolts on the slab after the crack. Nov 29, 2012
