Ticks Lost From Interactive Map

Hi.
I have made a habit of keeping my ticks somewhat up to date so i can keep an eye on the different locations I've climbed over the years. Today I was going to show a friend the personal tickmap on my account and I realized large amount of my ticks have gone missing! I used to have many ticks showing up, but now my map looks bare. It only shows maybe 1/3-1/2 of the unique areas ive climbed in. Does anyone know whats the matter? Below are some routes that used to show up on my map but no longer do.

At least 5 routes at Enchanted Tower, New Mexico including the following 2:

Dwayne mentioned in the Changelog post that MP will be limiting the number of ticks/to-dos displayed on the user profile map as a performance enhancement (also in this thread).

Personally, I'd also like to be able to see all of my ticks on the map, maybe a separate button can be added for "view all ticks/todos"?

I didn't know that. I very much like all ticks to be displayed on the map. My map is missing a lot now and it basically ruins the map function for me if it stays this way.

I’ll take poor performance on the map page over incomplete data being displayed.

I just noticed this as well. Honestly, the map was the biggest reason I added ticks onto MP in the first place! The fact that it's not showing all the areas I've climbed has basically ruined my experience. What's the point of the map if it's only showing a few ticks?

I'm totally with Andrea on this. Look at my sad little map! It used to be great. We took pride in our maps!

I recently noticed that the map doesn't display everything I've climbed which is a huge bummer. Maybe the interactive map should be a separate page (like it is on mobile) so it doesn't slow down the main profile page.

I've suggested solutions but they've currently gone unheeded

But this is not my site

I'll second the notion that a change would be well appreciated. The users have spoken, and we really would like our ticks back on the map!

Gonna hop on the boat and add my +1. I really did enjoy having a complete map of my ticks. It is a really cool feature that miss

It could be a decent experiment if just removing To Do's off of the map would have been enough of an uptick in page performance.

Just noticed this too, and got really scared that my ticks got deleted, until I exported a CSV of my ticks and they all seem to be there. According to the ticks, I have climbed in 10 states. However, only 3 are shown on the map. Interestingly, it is the 3 states where I climb most recently, but it is really sad to see the rest gone. Let me know how I can be part of the change I want to see.

Missing my impressive tick map as well! Another bump for bringing it back!

The full tick map is back.  You need to create a free onX account and link it to your MP profile.

Access to the tick map does not and will not require a paid membership.

Anyone else unable to make a free account for OnX?

Edit: Not yet available on mobile

Hello Friends,

The "heat map" version of the Tick Map has been in BETA now for over 6 months, with the caption "We're working to make the tick map amazing, shareable, and something you all can be stoked on."

I am still more sad than stoked about the loss of a feature that I used to really enjoy.

The original Map would show Ticks (yellow) and To-Dos (green), and both were enabled by default for all time.  Due to performance issues with certain users who had long lists, you reduced the map to either a certain count or date range of most recently added Ticks and To-Dos.

You introduced the heat map, but it has several limitations -- not visible to users who aren't logged in, and doesn't show tick markers as distinctly.

There were several performance improvement steps that you could have taken to preserve the original functionality, including:

* only load map ticks by default, offer an option to enable to-dos

* only load a limited count by default, offer an option to "View All"

* show the limited map on the main page (a certain count or date range), but link to an enhanced-view map page with more options for all time

I'd like to renew the feedback that the new heat map feature is not an improvement over the old, and I'm curious whether the improvements that you mentioned working on are still on your roadmap.

Thanks!

Just updated to X and the ticks really are lost in the heat map. If I've climbed 5 routes in Yosemite Valley (I've climbed way more), I can no longer pinpoint which climbs I've done in an area. Instead I click on the blob and a ticked route in the vicinity pops up. Also the To-do list was never apart of the original map and isn't unwelcome but those are still pinpoints, which is ideally how the ticks would show up.

-Ticks live on at zoom

Agree, the heat map is a big downgrade.

If you zoom in toward an area in Yosemite Valley, you should see the "heat" change to a dot, allowing you to click on a specific area which will then open a card on the left side of the map for that area (e.g. Western Royal Arches) which will then show a list of your Ticked routes in that area. Does that help at all?

We know that. We just like the dot map better than the heat map approach. The heat is determined by the number of ticks but does nothing to denote different sectors (until you zoom in). We prefer to have denoted sectors without a zoom in.

Heat map is very poor compared to the old system.

If there are a "few users" causing problems (example: 5000 to-do routes) then just cap that or those few accounts? Seems like an easy fix. How can this be a real problem in 2024? Data table with a few columns only: X location, Y location, route name ...

How is this site somehow shittier under OnX? Why would I want to buy their products they keep pushing on me when they can't even get this map correct?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
