Posting this from a second account because... idk, this will be a pretty earnest / revelatory post and I don't want to offend any current partners, and I'm just generally a private person on the internet. But if this sounds like a fit, I'm happy to share my public MP profile, up-to-date ticklist, and plenty of references from other climbing partners :)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to expand my network of climbing partners and I figured I'd try my luck on the MP forums, as I've had really good experiences meeting people on here, many of whom are now good friends. As I get older and progress in my climbing, I've learned how much I really value the right climbing partnership, and I find myself getting more and more picky about who I climb with. I've also been thinking a lot about my climbing goals, which are mostly longer routes (and big walls?!), which require a good fit of climbing partner, at least more than just single-pitching.

About me: early 30s, climbing for around 10 years. I've sent 12+ on bolts and 12- on gear, have done some big-walling and aid climbing, I like to think that my systems are pretty dialed, and I really appreciate the same from my climbing partners. I've dealt with some chronic health issues in the semi-recent past, but right now these are mostly under control, and so I'm really psyched to finally be able to get after it and push myself to see how far I can progress in my climbing.

I'm not full-time dirtbagging, but my other life commitments are pretty flexible, and I'll be focusing mostly on climbing between February and June of 2025. I'd like to spend my time in the west / southwest, until the weather gets good for the Spring season in Yosemite.

I like my climbing to be mostly type 1 fun. The perfect day for me is max 10-12 hours long. I'm really interested in pushing my limits in terms of grades / difficulty of free climbing, but at the end of the day sending vs. not sending isn't the most important thing in my life... climbing really isn't all that serious!

I value safety (the kind where we identify real risks and mitigate them so that we get home safe, but where we can still climb boldly), organization, efficiency, lightheartedness, mutual support, idk, feels like I'm repeating myself by now but maybe these are helpful details.

Potential dealbreakers would be if you:

  • are politically conservative
  • take yourself too seriously (the occasional wobbler is ok as long as it lasts < 1 minute)
  • weigh less than 120# (imo this is where the weight difference gets complicated)
  • can't commit to plans more than a week in advance (no hate, i'm just trying to plan what i'd like to climb in May!)
  • insist we climb with a follower backpack (i refuse)

Examples of routes I'd like to get on:

(No guarantees I'll send any of these, but I'm training seriously with the intent to give them a real attempt.)

If any of this piques your interest, send me a DM and let's talk more about it.

Thanks for reading :)

I’m down to meet, I have similar flexibility and goals but not climbing as high grade, everything else sounds killer.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
