Multipitch where you can meet hikers at the top

Synchronizing a meet up between hikers and climbers on Mt. Whitney would be a cool trick to pull off. Logistically tricky but the hiking is moderate at best and the climbing, only 5.7 alpine rock with stellar positioning on the mountain.

25 mile round trip with significant miles and time above 10K'. Sure, the hiking is moderate from a technical standpoint, but that by no means is a moderate hike. Certainly not "chill" as the OP requested.

I see your point. I did get a laugh out of people recommending things with 12 and 16 mile round trip "chill hikes"!

You sound like every woman in Boulder I try to date when I suggest a, "chill hike" and they block me when they glance at my IG to see what I mean by, "chill".

Lots of good multi-pitch up Table Mountain in Cape Town,. and your friends can take a cable-car to the top to meet you there, though there's also a reasonable hiking trail.

  1. Standard Route, Whitehorse Ledge, North Conway, New Hampshire.  1100 ft, 9 pitches, 5.5 leads to main hiking trail back to parking lot.  Plenty of hikers
  2. Diedre, Squamish, Stamamus Chief, Apron. British Columbia, Canada. 600 ft, 6 pitches, 5.8, does not lead to a regular hiking trail (more of a climbers path),but one could easily meet friends near the traverse ledge into the forest. Such a beautiful setting.
  3. Surrealistic Pillar and Corrugation Corner combo, Lovers Leap, Lake Tahoe, California. 600 ft, 7 pitches, 5.7 leads to main hiking trail to parking lot.  Plenty of hikers (and rattlers).
  4. Via Gross (Spigolo Sud), Passo Pordoi, Sella Group, Dolomites, Italy. 1000 ft, 11 pitches, 5.8+, last belay at metal framework under tram with hop over stone wall to patio terrace.  Plenty of tram riders, hikers, restauranteurs and one of the most popular wing suit BASE exits in the Dolomites.

All worthy of laps (not Gross), solos (not Gross), repeat visits over years.  Chill climbs, chill hiking/tram down on Gross, good parking lots

Prodigal Sun in Zion tops out most of the way up the Angel’s Landing hike. The handrail was part of my last anchor. All the tourists on their way up were really curious what was going on.

Do you need a permit for this if you end up on the hike/ hike down from the top?

I don't think so as the climbing / bivi permit should cover that, but I'm totally guessing.

However note that Prodigal Sun is a reservable route: https://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/climbingpermits.htm

A few more northeast ideas beyond Cathedral/Whitehorse, all with good climbing. depending on hiking fitness: Huntington Ravine on Mt Washington NH, Tumbledown Mountain in Maine, and Katahdin in Maine.

Of note, all 3 have strenuous hikes to the summit (and to access the climbing itself), but Mt Washington also has a road to the top with parking and a short trail that meets up wit the top of the climbing routes.

I know a couple have mentioned routes that finish at the top of the Angel's Landing hike, so I'll throw this one into the mix as well, The Lowe Route 5.10 C3

Man I dunno. The technical climbing on the Diamond does not finish near any chill hikes. I would not ask any hikers to hike down to meet you, less they pitch over the edge. To be serious for a moment.

WTF?

Diedre does not get you ANYWHERE near where the hikers go, not to near any of the summits, not even to near any of the hiker's trails.

Deidre just gets you to one area at the top of the Apron.  You still have several hundred metres of climbing before reaching the spots where the hikers are.

Table Rock, NC.

North Ridge is particularly chill at 3 pitches of 5.5.  The hike up (and down) is pretty nice as well.
