Consolation Prize- Lost City, The Gunks.   Backstory:  We had climbed a really great line as a first ascent.  When we got to dinner and told Kevin Bein, he started laughing and told me we were at least the third party to think it was a First Ascent.  I had spotted a line to left and went and did that instead.  While it's a great route, Red Route is amazing.  We got the consolation prize.

Gravity's Rainbow: Inspired me to read the book.  Best Author since James Joyce.

Airation is a personal fav the name really captures the exposure that you feel climbing the crack. also More Hustle Than Muscle in j tree a bit lesser know but a fun route in addition to the cool name (best with a German accent). Also in jtree Heart of Darkness, and Bearded cabbage plus Fote Hog, would love some background on that one.

I've always liked route names that tell a story, as well -

Nice Jugs, Pretty Face (for obvious reasons)
The Sword of Damocles (flake hanging above you)
Static Cling (It might help you stick to the tiny holds and slippery basalt)
Astrologger (like Astroman, but with a Squamish twist)

The legendary John Strand and the ageless hard man Tom Callaghan came up with some great names for their many (death) routes on New Hampshire's crags.  Here's a few of them:

—Malt Therapy
—Reelin' in the Fears
—Footsy Quence
—Slip o' Fools
—Way Radical
—Black Flies Consume Jim Dunn
—Stretched on Your Grave

I was going to say Reelin in the Fears... my favorite route name. A reference to the song, and the scariness of the climb....

Heart of Darkness is a Joseph Conrad novel that was the inspiration of Apocalypse Now the Vietnam War film.

The crack is in a dark corridor with dark stone and is probably the best rock in J-Tree.

Pretty sure it was Jimmy's idea when he and I thought we were doing the FA...turns out Dale Bard and Rick Cashner may have done it first and were given the FA but they never confirmed that this was the crack they climbed.
