Description
The vallon area is a high altitude cirque accessed by the lift of the same name (whose base is accessed via the Boe lift in Corvara). It holds a number of large, steep, orange and grey faces, each generally holding both 'classic' and bolted routes. Most people you will encounter are either hiking the trails or heading up the Piz da Lech via ferrata, though multipitch sport routes are now one of the area's major draws with tons of routes in the french 6's like Via Mani Delle Guide (6a), Via Gino Bellumat (6a+), Via Eva Dorme (6b), and Bramosia Scura (6c+), each found on a different formation in the cirque.
Even on a summer weekend, you're unlikely to find the sorts of conga-lines of people that you might find over in the Sella/Sassolungo region, making this an attractive weekend option. The lack of crowds also means a lack of polish on the routes and, on the flip side, a bit more detritus on the ledges and small loose rocks to avoid here and there.
The Kostner refuge site has several topos for various walls in the cirque as does the Corvara climbing website ( moviment.it/it/parco-movime…).
