Note that the annual closures of the Park View Dome, The Ranch Hand, Black Creek Wall, and Sawmill Crag have been permanently lifted. These cliffs will continue to be monitored, but will only close if a new nest is spotted.
Starting September 30, 2025 through October 31 the following crags will be closed 7 days a week (per ryan laird) (not Monday through Friday) while forest fire mitigation work is underway:
- Dines Cliff
- Reynolds Wall
- The Raven
The Mason Creek Trail will be closed and a helicopter will be assisting the mitigation operations.
Description
Update: Reynolds Wall is no longer closed for raptors.
This is a great new crag with the main south facing wall currently hosting ~ 14 routes ranging from 5.10 to 5.11d. The climbing consists of flakes, small edges, and a few overhangs on a sheer, nearly vertical, wall of bullet hard stone. Most routes are at least 3 stars with a few notable 4 star classics.
The wall is surprisingly good in the winter due to its south-facing aspect and its exposed position out of the trees. Additionally, the sheerness of the main wall, along with an overhanging top, tend to prevent snow buildup and speed up drying time.
It gets shade till 10:30am and after 6:30pm.
Hideout is a bonus area, has 8 routes, not connected to the Reynolds wall, At the moment this area will be like a Christmas grab bag you don’t know what you’re getting till you get on it, explore, has shade most of the day.
The Reynolds Gang was a group of confederate soldiers in 1859 who were sent North to Colorado from Texas to rob the stagecoaches and gold shipments from the mountains heading to Denver along US 285, the old South Park Stage Road, from Conifer to Fairplay, connection to Staunton. One of there many hideouts was in the Park.
