Description

Music Mountain has north- and northwest-facing walls, and the quality is hit or miss.... That said, there is a lot of loose, chossy rock here, and one should be aware to not pull down rocks when climbing, not climb under another party, and most importantly wear a helmet. The middle and east side of the mountain have great shade until around 2pm in the summer though, making it a great place to climb in peak summer heat.

Getting There

Drive 6.7 miles past the turn out for the Divide Road, and park in the small, marked parking lot on the left, just as the road bends right. Walk through the gate, being careful to close it when you're done, and approach the Wildcat Trail. Follow the trail across the valley approximately 1/2 mile. As the trail veers right and inclines up the mountain, look for a trail on the left that leads in to scrub oak. Follow that trail as it traverses across the face of the mountain. The approach is under a mile and is relatively flat and fairly well marked.
