Description

Achalu is a colorful hamlet off the Ramanagara - Kanakapura Rd, about 5-10 minutes from Ramanagara. The neighboring climbing area contains a number of bolted 2 and 3-pitch climbs on the main wall as well as a sprinkling of shorter routes on nearby rocks, including a fun roof crack on Elba Rock.

Getting There

From the Bangalore - Mysore highway, just south of Ramanagara, take the Kanakapura Rd (Hwy 3) for 2.2 km and turn right at a sign for Avriti. Follow this dirt road for about 1 km, till you pass the gate for Avriti on your left. The next 100 m requires a high clearance vehicle, or some very careful driving. Park near the gate or negotiate the bumpy stretch and turn left to park at the location marked in the map. From the car, continuing further along the dirt track (not the path from the left turn, but the original dirt road) will take you through fields to the climbs. Approach time is about 10-15 minutes.
