Description
Red Feather Lakes is a small town located Northwest of Fort Collins. The Red Feather Lakes region generally refers to everything North of the Poudre Canyon (CO Hwy 14) and everything south/southwest of the Cherokee Park Road.
The area is known for pristine lakes and granite domes stretching as far as the eye can see. Fishing, hunting, hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking are the most common forms of recreation.
Climbers have been exploring the Red Feather Lakes region since the mid-'70s. Bouldering and trad climbing are the most common styles, but crags like the Grazing Allotment, Dome with a View and Swallow Crags have a good collection of bolt-protected routes.
In November of 2022, Ben Scott/Fixed Pin released the first comprehensive guidebook to the area. You can purchase it online at www.fixedpin.com or Ascent Studio and Whetstone Climbing carry it in Fort Collins. The Tavern in RF also has copies for sale.
