Description
The Outback area is the furthest west portion of Mothers, beyond Other Mothers. Most of the routes are found on the west-facing slab that is 120-130 feet tall and stays in the shade until ~11:00.
Getting There
From the Mothers parking lot, approach as for Other Mothers. When the trail gets close to Other Mothers (~30 yards) and passes through a dead juniper, follow cairns west. Traverse west and then up into the gully that separates Mothers from the next buttress. The approach takes about 25 minutes.
