Description
This area is located on the upper right side of the East Side of Rockworks Rock. Which is located about 650 yards Northwest of Gunsmoke and about 350 yards west of the Barker Dam. This cave/roof is on a ramp-like ledge above the Pictograph Cave (closed to climbing). There is an interesting exposed crawl through on the approach. Some hard problems exist. Sex Magician (V7) ***, traverses the edge of the roof and has a V8 ** sit start. Perpetual Darkness (V10) ** powers out a flaring crack over the roof and Diary of a Dope Fiend (V8) ***, climbs 25 feet out over the roof on the far right side. Other problems have been done in the area.
Getting There
Walk past Gunsmoke to the North end of the valley, to a wash near Rat Rock. This wash can also be reached by walking West from Barker Dam. Head west and around right, into the first canyon. Rockwork Orange an overhanging, orange corner will be seen on the left side of the canyon entrance. Continue up the canyon past this to where the wash is blocked by a boulder. Follow a faint trail, up through boulders, aiming for an oak tree at the base of the cliff. Scramble up to a ramp and follow it right, to an exposed crawl through - Alisters Cave is on the other side of this.
