Respect local residents, cattle and wildlife by following the posted speed limit of 20 mph.
Minimize user impact by staying on established trails and roads.
Park off the road in established pull-offs or parking areas.
Pack out human waste and garbage.
Keep noise to a minimum.
Portions of Escalante Canyon are active ranching areas. Keep pets under leash control at all times.
No fires and no discharge of firearms.
Camp in established areas only. No camping on private property.
Description
Per Zack Kelley: there are no raptor closures for Interiors Wall Area for 2023, per the BLM Uncompahgre Field Office's wildlife biologist.
This is the most popular area in the canyon. There are many routes here. The most interesting part of this area of the cliff is a large cave with a couple of routes that climb cracks inside the back wall of the cave.
The original Desert Rock covers this area.
Addendum: the buttress to the right of the large crack in the photo (right of the white box saying "Layback") fell down. Look for some huge new chunks of talus on the slow below this wall.
