Description Suggest change

A beautiful varnished overhung crack high above ice box. Serves as the most proper finish to swing shift.

On the 5.9 chimney pitch of swing shift (pitch 5), stay in the chimney until the very end, at which point you will place some good gear in the crack and do a 5.9 traverse left to an anchor below the impressive varnished dihedral.

Thin stem moves off the anchor lead to a wide crack where you can get a 5 or 6. A couple easy moves lead to a finger crack. Place some small gear and continue up to the base of the dihedral. Fire up the dihedral. To keep it easier than 5.12 be clever with tiny features and delicate stems, otherwise power through the steep crack. Once above the steep crack, 5.8 climbing up a 4 inch crack gets you to an anchor.

This is the dihedral above swing shift - a much better fifth pitch finish to this route

Protection Suggest change

standard rack to 5, thin gear for the start
