Description Suggest change

A fun, thin climb in a left corner on the Shoulder under South Timpanogos summit. The first pitch is a short step that is 50' to the anchor stance, and the second pitch is 230' to the rock horn in the gully. The top out is a vertical column that may not be attached to the rock. This section has some opportunities for rock protection.

The approach is very long and committing.

Location Suggest change

Follow the trail from the Aspen Grove trailhead up into the Lost Lake Cirque. As the trail turns north, there is a weakness in the cliff band that may have an unprotectable WI3 smear, or may be filled with snow that can be used as an approach ramp. If it is dry, then follow the trail to Emerald lake and at the rock bridge, turn left and follow the unmaintained trail that takes you up onto the plateau above Lost Lake Cirque. Follow the trail until you see the climb come into view, and then cut through the talus field to the base of the ramp below the climb. Watch out for falling rock as you approach.

Protection Suggest change

Ice screws, trad rack to #2, a set of microcams, nuts, knifeblade pitons.
