Warning Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures ***** RAIN AND WET ROCK ***** The sandstone in Zion is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN ZION during or after rain. A good rule of thumb is that if the ground near your climb is at all damp (and not powdery dry sand), then do not climb. There are many alternatives (limestone, granite, basalt, and plastic) nearby. Description Suggest change

A few options exist:

Opt 1: Climb the bolted slab, a few pieces take out the run out near the top. 80ft 5.6

Opt 2: Climb the curving low angle hand crack. 80 ft.5.8

Both options deposit you on the same shelf, either stop and belay at the anchor or, continue up the corner stopping at a good stance and bolted belay. 30ft from shelf anchor 5.4

What you came for- Climb up the hollow cracks and secure the first bolt. Stay low at bolt 2 or find yourself in a weird predicament while trying to reach bolt 3. Use a long sling on bolt three, it will help with drag. Pull onto the immaculate brown patina face with bullet crimps and sort out the moves. Amazing crimping and edging with good exposer are what to expect. The bolting is perfect. 13 bolts 5.10+

Looks like you can move up and right on run out terrain to the Tribute finish if you want to top out.

This might be the best face climb in Zion.

Location Suggest change

Just uphill (left) from the Salty Dog arete is a small flat stance. The bolted 5.6 slab starts here. Or if you're after the 5.8 crack, walk uphill (left) another 40 feet. There is a small path through some manzanita trees to another flat base.

Protection Suggest change

Rack to 3" and 13 QD's, one long sling for the face climb. 70m mandatory or two ropes to get down
