Starting September 30, 2025 through October 31 the following crags will be closed 7 days a week (per ryan laird) (not Monday through Friday) while forest fire mitigation work is under way:
- Dines Cliff
- Reynolds Wall
- The Raven
The Mason Creek Trail will be closed and a helicopter will be assisting the mitigation operations.
- Lion's Head
- Roughneck Area
- Wildcatter Wall
Note that the annual closures of the Park View Dome, The Ranch Hand, Black Creek Wall, and Sawmill Crag have been permanently lifted. These cliffs will continue to be monitored, but will only close if a new nest is spotted.
Description
This is a mixed gear route with three bolts, all located at the start. The PG-13 rating is mainly for the top where it can be protected with small nuts and is ~5.8 climbing.
Mighty is a fun, engaging climb consisting of slabby moves at the bottom, an interesting crack system in the middle, then a slightly exposed move to a ledge. Finally, there's a small roof with decent crimps and good places for pro. If you like high steps (or beach whale-ing), you'll certainly enjoy this climb.
This route was made possible by the guidance and support of Elias Arias and Alan Prehmus.
Protection
A standard rack with small nuts is recommended. There’s a two bolt anchor with Mussy hooks at the top.
As mentioned, the PG-13 rating is only for the top which can be protected with small passive pro.
Location
On the extreme right end of Dines, this mixed route is located to the left of Ratu Ratu. You'll quickly recognize it for having three bolts at the start and nothing else afterwards.
Background
This route was designed on the land of the Ute and Cheyenne people. "Mighty" is dedicated to Melissa's mother, Dr. Ida Wenefrida, who passed from peritoneal cancer on March 27th, 2023. For this route, funds were sent to the MD Anderson Cancer Center's donation page.
