Description Suggest change

This route was included in Jon Syke's guidebook "The Notches", but hadn't yet been added to Mountain Project.  This route climbs up to the obvious and notable vertical crack that is 30-40 feet above the ground, above a slabby beginning.  There is a bolt protecting the entry into the crack that can be seen from the ground.  Gaining entry to the crack can be done two either ways, either high from the left (the original line), or straight up from below the bolt (a later variation).

This route can be climbed directly as one long pitch all the way to the top of the cliff, past a small grassy ledge break (that didn't have an anchor or rappel station as of 10/22/2022) to the top anchor station.

See Jon Syke's guidebook for more details, beta, and history.

To descend, you'll need to rappel to the Crystal Crack mid route belay/rappel anchor.  It is located on the left side of the large, grassy, sloping ledge halfway down the cliff.  Alternatively, from the anchors at the very top of Commit to Your Maker, you can see the anchors of the top of the 2nd pitch of Crystal Crack, approximately 20-30 feet left and up.  You can traverse to the Crystal Crack anchors and then make an easy and obvious rappel straight down to the Crystal Crack mid route belay/rappel anchor, and then make a second rappel down to the ground from there.  These rappels can be done with a 60m rope.

Location Suggest change

Begins just to the right of the first pitches of Crystal Crack and First Route.  Perhaps 5-10 feet right of Crystal Crack / First Route, depending on where you start up the corner/slab.  You could begin in the large corner of First Route and immediately break out right onto the  easy slabs of Commit to Your Maker, as well.

Protection Suggest change
