Description
A classic sport route should contain: great quality rock, thoughtful bolting, sequential and thoughtful movement, and a beautiful setting. Falcon Steep has all of the above.
Scramble up the right of a detached pillar to the first protection bolt. The crux comes on thin holds between bolts 2-5. Unless you have fingers of steel, don't plan on chalking up until you pass the crux. The middle section provides some relief on easier, but pumpy terrain. A final thin cux, although easier, guards the chains.
A classic route at almost any single pitch sport crag in the world. New Zealand rock gets a bad rap, but this climb is definitely worth doing.
