Description
Here's your chance to get away from the throngs on Stairway and Bridal Veil and do some fun alpine ice rambling to a couple fun flows up high!
This is the column that's visible from the road / parking when it's in. Much lower than FMR but still pretty high up there. It's fun and longer than it looks! When we climbed it it was a 40' pillar followed by a short ramp and another short steep step to the top. There's a tree anchor at left.
Location
Approach as for FMR, you'll climb several short pitches of WI3 to get there.
After the first pitch (probably to climber's left of the first waterfall) and after the low-angle ice just above, bear right up the creek / drainage. After a few hundred yards of hiking and ice scrambling, two flows will diverge; the left path opens up into a larger basin. Both the Frigid Perculator and Automatic Drips are up there, above another 40 foot WI3 section. One could also trend right at the base of these climbs up through woods to eventually connect with the FMR drainage.
