Deep in the groove you'll find water ice. Sometimes you need to climb this, but that's where all the debris slides and tumbles down from up above.
We had mostly soft ice at the headwall.

We had mostly soft ice at the headwall.
Top of the rim, summit plateau is the farthest peak.
Above the first step, it's best to cross the hogsback ridge above the rock feature to the left.
