Looking for simple lightweight rope bag without tarp or carrying straps

I tend to store and carry ropes in simple rope bags and then also have a very lightweight separate tarp I flake the rope on that doubles as a tent floor protector or as a boulder clean start for those problems the pad isn't right by the start.

Outdoor Research used to carry one that is perfect for me - a simple zippered bag about the size of a coiled rope with no frills. But that is no longer made.

Mountaintools carries the closest I can find but has an unnecessary draw string on one end although that would be OK.

Anyone know of just a simple rope bag the size of a coiled rope with a single zipper and nothing else available now?

Thank You

If you build it, they will come.

I was gonna suggest a stuff sack or similar.

Chouinard used to make a rope bag that was essentially a long, narrow stuff sack. No zipper, though--it had a drawstring closure. Sterling has something similar, although it looks beefier. I imagine any stuff sack of the appropriate size would work.

If you must have a zipper, cut the handles off a small duffle bag. For style points, get a Louis Vuitton bag and cut the handles off.

Liberty Mountain sells a simple zippered rope bag that they call the Black Box. There is no tarp just a bag.  It is very close to the old OR one.   I have several and really like them for how simple they are.  Shoot me a pm for more info.  Most local shops have a Liberty Mountain retail account and could order them for you .

Why not just use a reusable grocery bag? Put a couple Velcro synch straps around it if you want it compacted.

I use large , woven plastic (like the IKEA bag) bird seed bags for my ropes. I cut holes near the top edge to serve as handles. For the price of a latte I can make you one with a zipper.  PM me if this is something you might want.

Thanks everyone  for all the quick replies. I am going to order some of the Liberty Mountain Black Box rope bags.

Part of the reason I want a zipper is to keep as much  light out as possible in storage and transfer.

Mostly for peace of mind to allow me to push harder knowing I have done all I can to keep my gear in good shape.

Light degrades plastics slowly. May not have a practical effect but helps me feel more comfortable mentally.

Mine has been safely keeping my backup rope out of the light for years.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
