They were apoplectic, you'd have thought he had been caught tugging on his dong in the children's bathroom. Guess they're afraid the sight of a bare chest is going to send dozens of innocent lord-gobblers to heck (and more importantly make them cancel their membership). |

As of December 2017, no one had authority to delete forum posts but Nick. I found another post from early Feb of this year that implied one more moderator was in training, but it was currently still all Nick. I believe you that not everything that is flagged gets deleted. However, I have flagged some incredibly mild things (bc I thought they were toxic, moreso than flagrantly violating the rules), and they were immediately removed, with no placeholder post indicating moderation. Just like Boissal's post - it was pretty mild. Considering the vitriol that is left standing all over this site, the heavy-handed moderation that occurs when users flag things is disappointing to me. FWIW, I am in favor of stronger moderation here - I think a lot of lurkers would come out of the woodwork and create richer conversations here if 2-3 disruptive, bully-ish posters were reined in. Moderation should be consistent and transparent though. A community where flagged posts just disappear without any explanation isn't one I feel great about participating in. |

jg fox wrote: If you're thinking of that "Old Lady H is a troll" thread, sadly, I didn't even get a chance to post in the thing, someone yanked it so fast. I was set to have fun and see if we could all get some entertainment out of it. Not everything flagged is deleted, and then there are all the deleted with no flag, box, or anything. Just disappeared. Those are the worst, IMO. The nesting quotes were fun, when we finally pushed that over the edge. No more. Best, OLH |

What a constructive reply! Glad you're around to contribute useful content. Would you go to a weekly party that had three unmitigated assholes who just went around terrorizing everyone? Or would you skip that party for a less shitty one? There is a reason supertopo has the (narrow) user base that it does. It's not about safe spaces. People's views and beliefs can be challenged without being a dick about it. |
