Squamish, August 2013

Going to Squamish in August 2013. Yeah! Other than that, I have no idea. I've only seen pictures of this gigantic rock.

Staying in Vancouver, able to go climbing just for a day. I'm kind of a chill climber (5.6-5.8) interested in multiple pitches (3 or more) can anyone recommend classics in that range? I wouldn't mind doing a couple really long, easy climbs and that be it.

Also, if anyone can recommend a good guide service and guide!

There should be a few things on the Apron in that range, I'd choose whichever you can get on. Skywalker is supposed to be good, haven't done it yet.

I know Sonnie Trotter does some guiding, and it would be cool to hang out with him for the day.

There isn't a wide variety of multis in your grade range, but know that the grading here is often pretty soft.

Somebody mentioned Diedre, but I'd say Calculus is a better climb for the grade:

That's not a very popular opinion as Dierdre is a polished classic, so if you like waiting in long lines to get stuck behind slow parties on slabby routes then the choice is yours:

Skywalker is also a lot of fun. Like Calculus mostly low-key, but the 5.8 pitch is pretty legit for Squish grading.

You might want to consider Rambles as a fun few pitches. Mostly 5.6, four pitches, some crack, some slab and some jug haul.

Options (and route quality) improve greatly with only a few added grades, so my advice would be to try and strengthen up to 10- before August. Have fun, hope you have good weather, maybe we'll see you out there.
