Does it add or take away from the grade when you add a swan dive from the crux?

It's a new thing called DDS- deep dirt soloing. I'm surprised you guys haven't heard of it.

Seriously though, y'all are being a little harsh. Every climber I know has done some pretty idiotic things, especially me.

For his kid's sake, I hope he dials back the risk meter. But at least he didn't bring a dog to the crag.

Its a sub grade 5.10a7 - the 7 is for his form and execution of the swan dive

Clearly not, because according to his facebook posts he is still cocky as hell. I, personally, would be embarrassed and humbled rather than making gnarly sick bro comments after uploading a video of myself decking. Looks more like bragging to me.

Dude is about 20' off route by the time he falls. Unction isn't exactly a great onsight, it has wild moves and is pretty sequency for a 10a. It's also the greasiest route in the world due to the endless hordes of boy scouts top roping it in wet tennis shoes after playing in the stream.

I find his landing spot really weird unless he kicked pretty hard when he fell. He's a good 30' from the base and it doesn't look like he rolled. Those boulders in the stream bed must have felt all kinds of plush on impact...

Yes, the route goes straight through the roof. Long reachy moves, large but greasy jugs, and micro-edge feet until you get to the heel hook. Many 5.10 leaders lob off of this one repeatedly before sending.

He's completely off route trying to bail around the arete - there's some 5.7 there but the move across is not OK.
Then this:

tells me he has even less business on the route than the fall suggests. Wrong CANYON you tool!

And this:

Makes me want to die. Sorry for the accident? His attitude is a great example?

I do not believe those words mean what you think they mean.

The usual hollower than thou banter seemed rather drab until I read this spicy tidbit.

this is why i think publicizing free solo was the worst mistake especially by showing honnold on 60 min. makes "dumb climbers" think they can do what mentally train athletes can do. this kid got lucky and this should be used to show and teach kids that free climbing is not a joke. especially for those gym rats who think the could be honnold since they rip plastic. thats all im saying. thank you 60 minutes.

Darwinism at its finest. That guy was sketched right off the ground. Glad he is OK hope he learned something.

Why do we need to see these AssClowns, who have no business soloing, due to their complete lack of climbing ability being videotaped by people who do not understand the consequences of such an undertaking.

Soloing is a personal and spiritual climbing endeavor and should be pursued as such. No place for sensationalism or an audience.

Nobody wants to see some silly dumbass fall off a 40 foot choss pile.

Re-read the language I quoted. I was being facetious.
