Description
Pilastro Mirovino is a fine West facing crag that is quite sunny and climbable in winter, even with prevailing North winds (less so with NW or West winds). While there are only roughly a dozen routes, they range from 5a to 6c, are generally of high quality rock and climbing, and are a bit longer than their immediate neighbors to the South. Higher up one gets nice views of Finalborgo and the sea.
Note: as of 2/5/25 most routes in this area (with a couple of exceptions) have a vertical and a horizontal glue-in bolts for anchors. There is no additional hardware for lowering off and some of the anchor glue-ins are getting worn and are starting to develop edges. Rappelling would result in the least amount of wear on these anchors, but ultimately they are substandard for a sport climbing area and will need to be replaced. It is unfortunate that these anchors were intentionally placed this way (talked to one of the climbing shop owners about this). Just a few quicklinks and rings at the time of placement would have saved these bolts from wear and tear...
Getting There
From the upper parking area (Carpark A - Perti Nord/I Cianassi) take the right hand fork toward the Southeast (houses) on a semi-paved road (dirt after 350'). After 600' pass a yellow house on the left. At 800' go straight up a narrow cobbled pathway (shortcut) then continue slight right (on the left side of a long house) to reach a church ruin (looks more like a red/orange dilapidated house). Cut left here, then head down a narrower trail to the right after 80'. Continue down the trail and cross a creek, then immediately cut left (North). After 20' cut up and diagonally right/NE at a big boulder w. two red dots. Follow this trail up the hill over dirt and shallow rock steps for 200', past a painted 'POLL' on a rock. After another 50' or so note a red/white band painted on a tree. When facing that landmark from the trail, turn around almost 180 degrees and cut across toward the South, skirting around below a rather large rock formation (could be marked by cairns). Pilastro Mirovino is about 150' in this direction, keep looking left for the base.
Note: if you've reached the Grotta della Pollera (huge cave/grotto) you've gone a bit too far.
